Day by Day Itinerary
Day 01 Arrive in Beijing
No meals
Crowne Plaza  

Our guide will meet you outside the customs of Beijing Airport after you retrieve your luggage and clear the customs, and then transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is your own to explore the city at leisure.

Day 02 Beijing

Visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City this morning. Then an a la carte lunch is served at a very nice restaurant to taste the authentic Chinese food. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven. Tonight, you will enjoy a lively Chinese Kung Fu Show at Red Theatre.

Tips: It is a better route to enter the Temple of Heaven via the South Gate and get out of it through the East or West Gate. You can visit the Circular Mound Altar, Echo Wall and the Hall of Praying for Good Harvest in order to avoid returning to the sites that you have visited. Besides, you will have a chance to see how the local retired people enjoy at the Temple of Heaven. Everyday there are many retired people coming here to relax and entertain themselves. They are playing Chinese chess, playing the musical instruments, teasing their pet birds, chatting, singing and dancing. To join them for a short time is quite an interesting experience.

Day 03 Beijing

Visit the Great Wall at Badaling. To avoid having lunch at the shopping site restaurants, you will be driven to have Sichuan food at a local popular restaurant. Visit the Sacred Way and the Ming Tomb in the afternoon. On the way back to downtown, drive by the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium). You will see its appearance at a distance.

Day 04 Beijing - Urumqi

Visit the Summer Palace. You will enjoy your a la carte lunch at an elegant restaurant. Then take a flight to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and transfer to the hotel.

Tips: Due to the distinct temperature difference in Xinjiang, the fruits here are more fragrant, more savory and sweeter than other regions. Enjoying the tasty fruits here composes one part of Xinjiang Travel. Please keep in mind that do not drink tea after you eat the fruits, or you will get diarrhea.

Day 05 Urumqi - Kashgar

You will take a morning flight to Kashgar, "the pearl of the Ancient Silk Road". Upon arrival you will be taken to the local best hotel. Visit the famous Sunday Market.

Day 06 Kashgar - Urumqi - Turpan

Visit the Id Kah Mosque, the Old Street and the Abakh Khoja Tomb. Take a flight to Urumqi and be transferred to Turpan. Check in at the hotel.

Tips: As the religious center of Kashgar, the Id Kah Mosque is also the largest mosque in China. Due to the Islamic rules, the women are not allowed to enter the mosque for praying, consequently there is no female washing room inside the mosque. However, nowadays the female visitors are allowed to enter for visiting. To respect their religious, you should note some matters they don't preferred when visiting. Before the schedule, the guide will give you the radical information and some guidance about that. Out of the mosque is the characteristic Kashgar Old Street. If you still have some free time in Kashgar, you may catch the chance to look around.

Day 07 Turpan

Visit the Jiaohe Ruins, the Karez Well and the Sugong Pagoda.

Day 08 Turpan - Dunhuang

Visit the Gaochang Ruins, the Baizikeli Thousand Buddha Cave and the Flaming Hill. Take an overnight soft sleeper train to Dunhuang.

Tips: When visiting this area in summer, please bear in mind that this is the hottest city in China and one of the hottest in the world! The highest temperature recorded here was 49.6 degrees Celsius (121.3 degrees Fahrenheit). Make sure that you are well-prepared if you visit Turpan during summer. The ultraviolet radiation is strong and may burn your skin. Always bring plenty of drinking water, high strength sun-block and a hat or scarves for your protection.

Day 09 Dunhuang
Building No. 8 of Dunhuang Hotel  

You will be picked up at the railway station and transferred to the hotel. Visit the Mogao Grottoes and the Dunhuang Museum. Breakfast is on your own.

Tips: The overnight train from Turpan to Dunhuang arrives in the late morning. There is no breakfast supplied on the train, nor is breakfast available at the hotel when you arrive in Dunhuang since it's too late. We suggest you buy some fast food or fruit before boarding the train in Turpan. After arrival in Dunhuang you can also buy some KFC or local food for breakfast before the tour starts.

Day 10 Dunhuang - Xian

You will experience a short camel-ride along the Echoing-Sand Dune to reach the Crescent Lake. Take a flight to Xian and transfer to the hotel.

Day 11 Xian

Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. Your a la carte lunch is served at the best local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the City Wall. We will arrange the marvelous Tang Dynasty Dinner Show at the splendid Tang Dynasty Palace.

Tips: If you want a taste of Shaanxi cuisine, the bazaar near the Great Mosque should be your first choice. It is always bustling with local residents and visitors from different parts of the world. This area is teeming with restaurants, where the smell of barbecue makes your mouthwater, the time-honored Guantangbao (steamed bun stuffed with juicy pork) arouses your appetite, and the authentic mutton soup with cubed steamed buns from the Muslim minorities is definitely worth savoring. After finishing your meal, it is worth having a glance at the numerous souvenirs shops.

Day 12 Xian - Shanghai

In the morning, visit the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. Afterwards, you will have a local family visit and a la carte lunch will be arranged in the home of the family that you visit, to taste the authentic home cooked Chinese dishes. Then take a flight to Shanghai and transfer to the hotel.

Day 13 Shanghai

Renaissance Shanghai Yuyuan Hotel  

Visit the Shanghai Museum and the Yuyuan Garden. At noon, an a la carte farewell lunch will be served at a fancy and famous local restaurant, which offers authentic Shanghai and Cantonese cuisine. After lunch, transfer you to the Bund area, where you will take a cruise tour on the Huangpu River. Leave you some free time to explore the Bund area on your own. Then visit an ancient cultural street.
